The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system

Chapter 29 29: A glutton for sweet things

Alix poked Holea's waist and said, "Okay, I won't touch you. Stop wrinkling your nose as if I have not taken a bath today and I am stinking up your office."

Holea sat down, crossed her legs and looked at Alix with what most people would perceive as a gold gaze. As her friend-a close one at that. Alix knew better.

Holea was not cold, she was just aloof.

She sat down as well and looked at her gratefully. "Seriously, thank you." she repeated.

"En." Holea nodded briefly. "Did you really marry him willingly?"

"Yes." she responded.

"You know that I don't believe you, right?" Holea replied.

"En." Alix answered.

Holea was the one she called for help after the wedding, it was not difficult for her friend to put two and two together. Thankfully though, she was not one to ask many questions.

"You, if you need my help don't hesitate to request for it." she said seriously.

"I know." Alix replied.

She could always count on Holea for help, no matter the kind of situation.

"Likewise," Alix added. "Are you busy?"

Holea nodded and pointed to a stack of papers. She was not just running the cafe, she was also working as a freelance designer.

"Then I will get out of your hair but we must all meet up for lunch before the week ends. Stop working too hard and find time to play with your daughter."

Holea was married, her husband worked online from home as a writer. Holea worked more than her husband, and she spent less time at home which her six year old daughter hated.

Every time Alix visited, the little girl would complain loudly, "Aunt, my mother is too hardworking."

It was not a lie because Holea always took her work home with her.

Holea scoffed and eyed Alix with pity. "Even in these circumstances you are still worried about someone else. Don't worry about Mu Mu, she is fine worry more about yourself and the unpredictable circumstances you find yourself in.

Zhang Caishen is like a wolf, no, an alpha wolf and you must handle him with care lest you will be torn apart by his claws. It's even worse now that he is injured, his ego must be fragile.

Xi-Xi, whatever you do, don't show him any disdain for his condition. If he doesn't want you, live your life and let him live his. A stranger under one roof is better than an enemy."

This was the most Holea had said since Alix stepped foot into her office. And knowing her, this would be the most she said.

"I have heard you my friend but don't worry, he and I have come to an understanding already. We both want to give the marriage a chance."

Holea had tapped pursed her lips upwards, it was what she did when she was thinking. Mostly important things and personal things she felt uncomfortable mentioning. Alix readied herself for the question her friend would ask.

"It's suspicious, why would he do that?" Holea looked at her sternly.

"Maybe he is lonely and or perhaps my beauty and charm are too irresistible." Alix chuckled.

Holea looked at Alix's face and shook her head, "No, that's not it." She said with a straight face.

"Heeeeey." Alix shouted at her like a little wildebeest with a temper. "I am totally pretty." She added.

"I never said you aren't." Holean answered dryly. "Have you engaged in any form of skinship with him? Before you decide to make the marriage work, make sure that he is not crippled in that part as well.

It could be why he has decided to try and make the marriage work."

Alix giggled and covered her eyes.

"Don't talk about that here." She whispered.

"Alright, go now, I have work to finish." Holea waved her hand , sending Alix away.

"No hug." Alix joked.

Holea was already looking down on the papers which she had spread out on her desk and she was holding her drawing pen.

"You can try but don't be surprised if you meet my foot." she replied without lifting her head.

"Okay, the busy designer, I will see you for lunch." Alix stood up and left the office quietly.

She waved at her nanny whose eyes were watching the door to Holea's office.

This was how she always was when Alix was growing up. She would hover over her with worried eyes until when Alix went to bed at night.

Alix walked to the counter first and ordered for a caramel iced coffee.

It also crossed her mind that this was the first day she would be entering her husband's house. It would be a shame not to celebrate it.

"Can I have a whole tiramisu cake and a whole strawberry ricotta cake, both medium sized."

As she ordered, she dialed Caishen's number.

"Ooh, the red bean cakes look fresh too, and the dim sum. Everything made here is always super delicious, you guys take half of my pay check every month.

It's a good thing that I never get fat no matter how many sweet things I eat. I don't care, give me a piece of everything as usual so I can eat everyday."

She licked her lips, salivating at the sight of all the pretty cakes.

Those words were the first that Caishen heard when he picked up the call.

It sounded like his wife was busy shopping for things to eat. He wondered if she realized that she had called him. He also wondered how much she earned if half of her paycheck was spent on cakes and sweet desserts.

"Mm-hmm." he cleared his throat.

This sound was heard by Alix and she coughed as well.

"Caishen," she called softly.

"Mmm." he answered.

"I am sorry for calling suddenly but I want to make a request."

"What is it?" he asked.

She could not tell his mood over the phone, all she knew was that he sounded serious as if he was talking to a business colleague.

"I..I my nanny can she move in with me?" she blurted the words out. "Please, I will owe you for this favor, hmm. Just one room, my nanny will only take up one room." she went on.

"Is that all?" he asked her.

"Yes." she answered.

"Okay," he said.

Surprised at the quickness with which he agreed to her request, Alix almost dropped her phone. Was it that easy? So she did not have to beg desperately and grovel?

"Really!" she said.

"I have a meeting." he told her.

"Okay, sorry for disturbing you at such a busy time. I will be you waiting for at home, I even bought cake to celebrate our moving in together.

If you don't mind, and if you are not busy, I will wait up for you to celebrate together."

"Mmm, I am hanging up." he said.

"Bye-bye."

She hung up with a squeal and punched the air.

"Yes, yes, yes," she jubilated.

Why did people say that Caishen was fierce and cold? He was very warm and approachable, to her anyway.

In a way, he reminded her of Holea, the man was perhaps simply aloof. Cold was an extreme reference to him.

She went to her nanny and shared the good news immediately.

"I will send someone to pack your clothes and deliver them to the house. My father cannot get to you in the blossom courts."

The nanny nodded as well. She was happier that she would finally be living with Alix again and the where did not matter.

"Oh look, you have actually received a gift from a fan." The blue elf in her mind said.

Alix smirked and smugly said in her mind, "What did you expect, I am the best game player. Just wait, I will be drowning in gifts soon."

"You are too arrogant." The blue elf said.

Ignoring it's words, Alix helped her nanny up and led her to the car. It was time to go and see their new home.
